Kathleen was born in Washburn, Illinois to Lois (nee Loscher) and Earle Wallace on February 5, 1928. Her parents were farmers and raised Kathleen, three sisters and a brother. She was trained as a nurse in Peoria, Illinois at St. Francis Hospital and worked as a nurse for a short time. It was there that she met John Eichenberger. The two were married in October of 1950 and then Kathleen left her nursing position to stay home and raise the children. Once the children were a little older, she worked part-time at the local school cafeteria and stayed there for twenty-five years.
She and John moved to Cincinnati in 2000 to be closer to family. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October and then John passed a few months later. She later joined Lifespring Christian Church where she enjoyed new friends and fellowship, and served in various ministries. She continued to enjoy her favorite pastimes, cooking and baking, as well as gardening. She especially loved spending time with her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathleen is the beloved mother of David (Rosalie) Eichenberger and Diane Jones; cherished grandmother of Rachel (Jeff) Abke, Sarah Eichenberger, Amy (Steve) Porter, Brian (Debra) Eichenberger, Joel (Erin) Eichenberger, Stephen (Jenn) Jones, Stephanie Jones and Eric Jones; and dear great-grandmother of fourteen. She is preceded in death by her son Jim (Debby) Eichenberger, her husband John Eichenberger, her parents, and all four siblings.
A visitation will be held at Lifespring Christian Church on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 12 pm until the time of service at 1 pm. She will be laid to rest with John at Crown Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Kathleen's name to Lifespring's Shut-In Ministry (1373 W. Galbraith Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45231) and Hospice of Cincinnati.
