Betty M. (Carter) Wilson

Betty Marlene Wilson, nee Carter, was born in Oxford, Ohio on March 13, 1936.   She departed this life on August 13, 2018. Betty was a devoted wife of 56 years to her beloved and faithful husband, Lloyd Wilson, Jr.  

She was one of the founding members of The First Pentecostal Bibleway Church, currently known as God’s House of Praise and Worship.  She was a practicing minister at the church and held weekly bible study and prayer in her home for over 20 years.

Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Goldie Warren-Carter; her father, Ralph Carter; brothers, Roy Carter and Brian Carter; and granddaughter Camille Wilson.  Betty is survived by her husband, Lloyd Wilson Jr.; brother, Paul Carter (Melisa) and her sister, Lana Sue Hurston (Dan).

She leaves three children, Chrystal Butler (Edwin), Melissa Sherman (William) and Carter Wilson (Dawn), as well as six grandchildren, Ashley Butler, Jessica Butler, William Sherman II, Kristina Sherman, Candace Wilson and Carter Wilson, Jr.  She was also a mother to several other children as a beloved babysitter to many Oxford children.

A private funeral service will be held for the family at Ogle and Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Oxford.  Also a Celebration of Life will be held at God’s House of Praise and Worship, 100 Homestead Avenue (Corner of Poplar and Homestead) Oxford, Ohio 45056 on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1 pm.
