Helen Jane Burke, 80, of West College Corner, Indiana, died Thursday, May 14, 2020, in Oxford, Ohio. She was formerly of Ontonagon, Michigan.
Helen was born October 5, 1939, in Ontonagon, Michigan, to George and Mildred (Eva) Panscik. She was a 1957 graduate of Ontonagon High School. She attended Northern Michigan College, graduating as an LPN, and worked at Ontonagon Memorial Hospital.
She married Elden Richard Burke in 1964 and had four children. They lived in Ontonagon until the mid-1990s, when they began wintering in Clarksville, Florida. At the time of her death, she was living with her son Christopher and his family in West College Corner.
Helen was a very spiritual woman and had been baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1972. She loved nothing better than talking about her God, Jehovah, and his promises for the future. She read her Bible every day and tried her best to live by its principles. She was beloved by everyone who knew her.
Helen is survived by her children: Elden (Laura) Burke, Ontonagon, Michigan; Linda (Ron) Gasik, Streamwood, Illinois; Christopher (Sarah) Burke, West College Corner, Indiana; and Maggie (David) Doll, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She loved her grandchildren Daniel, David, Nick, Chris, and Abigail. She is also survived by a sister, Marie Marshall, of Corpus Christi, Texas, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
