Jonathan Burket

Jonathan “Jon” Paul Burket, 65, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Jon was born in Cincinnati, OH, to Robert and Joan (Kelly) Burket, and spent most of his life in and around the Village of Greenhills. A member of the Greenhills High School class of 1974, he was a proud lifelong Pioneer. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati. 

As a young adult, he served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Greenhills Fire Department. He served his church community as a Boy Scout Leader and could often be found participating in ministries involving yard and home maintenance for the elderly or disabled. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, electronics, engines, and never shied away from home improvement projects, especially when the car was packed and loaded for the annual Family Reunion trip to Cedar Point. In his retirement, Jon also took particular joy in caring for “used animals" on what he affectionately deemed the “Isle of Misfit Pets.” 

Jon will be remembered by his neighbors for his community spirit. Donning decades-old woolen socks, he could be found shoveling the walks and driveways of elderly neighbors during every snowstorm. Friends and family alike will remember him for his dry wit, and unfailing commitment to his point of view.

Jon was a proud parent of two daughters and later became a proud grandparent. Even there, his dry wit shone, selecting the grandparent honorific “Papa John.” Jon was the fourth child of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Burket and spent much of his later life caring for his parents.  Jon is survived by his daughters Jill Burket (Mark) Ragase and Leanne (Stephen) Mallory, five grandchildren Philippa, Truman, Finley, Quintin, and Penelope, and four siblings, Bob (Diane) Burket, Marie Burket (Jerry) Andersen, Richard F. (Cynthia) Burket, and Dr. Rebecca Burket (Randy Donohue.)

A visitation will take place on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 10:30am-12:00pm at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service. The burial service will be held at Arlington Memorial Gardens thereafter.
