Wanda Mae Kennedy
Wanda Mae Kennedy, 94, longtime resident of Evergreen Retirement Community and beloved mother to seven children, passed away on August 1st, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles M. Kennedy, who passed away in 2017.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Wanda spent her early years at Wernle Children’s Home in Richmond, Indiana, but later graduated from Springfield (Ohio) High School. Before marrying Charles in 1947, she worked for Olan Mills Photography – often posing as a model for company advertisements.
For decades, Wanda was a devoted wife and mother, and her greatest pleasure was raising and tending to her seven children. In 1987, Chuck and Wanda moved to Cincinnati. In 2009, they took residence at Evergreen, where they helped to establish a weekly Catholic Mass. In 2015, to her delight, Wanda became a model once again in newspaper advertisements for Evergreen and its parent company, Senior Lifestyle, and was also featured as a model in TV commercials for Comfort Keepers Home Care.
She is survived by seven children: Michael (Denise) Kennedy, Jan (William) Angert, Patricia (Paolo) Zafred, Charles (Sun) Kennedy, Rick (Jane) Kennedy, James (Pam) Kennedy, Jean Lubker; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 7, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2014 Springdale Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45231. Masks suggested. Entombment will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center, 2000 Wernle Road, Richmond, Indiana, 47374.
